The conference is in Uppsala, Sweden at the Ångström Laboratory (map). Uppsala is ~70 km away from Stockholm, so if you wish to visit Stockholm before or after the conference it is ~1 hour away by train.
The closest airport is Arlanda airport. Traveling from Arlanda to Uppsala can be done by
- Local train (Depart from “Terminal 4 (Arlanda) (Sigtuna)” Arrive to: “Uppsala Centralstation (Uppsala)”). You can buy tickets at the airport in “Sky City”, see below.
- Bus #801 (see Regional Busses)
- Taxi (This most often requires pro-booking a taxi as most taxis at Arlanda only takes rides to Stockholm. A taxi fare is ~700 SEK and is not faster than a train, but naturally somewhat faster than a bus. Before entering a taxi make sure that you know the price to Uppsala City, taxis from e.g. Stockholm will charge you significantly more)
Both busses and train connections are quick and frequent. They will bring you to downtown Uppsala. Just make sure to get on the correct train, else you will end up in Stockholm. Do not use “Arlanda Express” as this is only for Stockholm. The train station is located in “Sky City” in the airport (between terminal 4 and 5) and is easy to find. Busses depart just outside the terminals and bus #801 will bring you to Uppsala. As of the time of writing this you can buy tickets on the bus.
If you want to go by taxi then it is a good idea to pre-order taxis since otherwise your fair might be very high. There are several companies in Uppsala, Uppsala University uses Uppsala Taxi at present, but there are many other Uppsala based taxi companies. Remember to pre-book a taxi if you want to take a taxi.
We believe that trains and buses are a great transportation to Uppsala city, especially since they do not require any pre-booking, they are fast and reasonably cheap. They also bring you directly to downtown Uppsala.
Once you are in Uppsala train station the walk to most hotels is less than 5 minutes, taking a taxi inside the city is often not needed since many streets in Uppsala city are for pedestrians only.
