Several prizes will be awarded at the VUVX 2026 conference. We encourage nominations from the VUVX community, please the information below on the prizes. Please nominate candidates for the awards by May 4.
ELSPEC Student Awards
As part of the Journal of Electron Spectroscopy and Related Phenomena’s ambition to engage with young researchers and support them in attending relevant conferences in the field we have created the ELSPEC Student Awards. This award is given out on a yearly basis in two categories:
- Student Award in atomic, molecular and optical physics
- Student Award in condensed matter physics
In 2026 the prizes will be awarded at the VUVX-2026 conference and the winners are invited to present their work in an oral presentation. Each prize winner receives a certificate and a cash award of 1000 €.
Nomination procedure:
The prize winner will be decided after consideration by the Awards Committee at VUVX2026. Nominations must contain a curriculum vitae of the nominee, two letters of recommendation, and an extended abstract of the topic to be presented at VUVX2026.
Nominations should be submitted to the chair of the ELSPEC student awards committee Stacey Sörensen (Stacey.ristinmaa_sorensen@fysik.lu.se) by May 4.
VUVX Conference Award for mid-career scientists
The VUVX Conference Award recognizes outstanding experimental and/or theoretical contributions to the scientific areas of relevance to this conference series, ranging from condensed matter studies to gas-phase and cluster research. It is to be awarded to a scientist in mid-career, who has made significant contributions to the field over the past twelve years.
Nominations are solicited from the VUVX International Scientific Committee and the VUVX community at large.
Nomination procedure:
It will be awarded on the basis of information submitted to the VUVX Award Committee chair (Jinghua Guo, LBL. jguo@lbl.gov). The winners are selected by the VUVX Awards Committee. The nomination should contain a CV and a nomination letter summarizing the achievements warranting the award and one or more letters of recommendation.
This award was initiated at VUVX2010, where it was sponsored by the Canadian Institute for Synchrotron Radiation. MAX IV is the sponsor of the VUVX Conference Award in 2026.
